Get to know this great area better here, with my local community guides.
Over the last 20 years, I’ve watched first-hand as the Etobicoke neighbourhoods around me have changed and grown. Everyone from young families to downsizers love the area for its lakeside location, great schools, parks, and restaurants.

If you’re looking for a vibrant community with a strong family-friendly feel, then living in Mimico might be perfect for you. With its long list of parks and highly-rated schools, Mimico is one of the most popular Etobicoke neighbourhoods, especially for families.
In this waterfront community, you can find your new favourite restaurant on Lake Shore Boulevard, walk or bike along the trails near Humber Bay Shores, and easily travel downtown. The Mimico GO Transit station is nearby, as well as a 24-hour streetcar that can take you from Lake Shore to Queen Street.
There’s a diverse range of real estate in Mimico, from the condos of Humber Bay Shores – which are great for first-time buyers or downsizers – to the historic detached homes in the older neighbourhood pockets. You’ll find everything from bungalows to new builds to low-rise and high-rise condos.

Welcome to Alderwood, one of Toronto’s hidden gems!
Alderwood is a quiet family-friendly neighbourhood with great schools, local shops and restaurants (on Browns Line), and lots of parks and ravines. It’s also close to Sherway Gardens and the Long Branch GO Transit Station.
Like its neighbouring Etobicoke communities, there are many couples and families in Alderwood. Most of the real estate consists of bungalows and detached 2-storey houses, but new development is also on the rise. There are a few low-rise developments in the works and a lot of the older bungalows are being replaced with new builds.

I love the New Toronto neighbourhood because it’s my neighbourhood! I grew up in this community and now I’m back here raising my two kids.
There are tons of parks in New Toronto. My favourites include Colonel Samuel Smith Park, which has outdoor skating and walking trails, a marina, and an off-leash dog park. Rotary Peace Park, where I helped build the new playground, has a fantastic outdoor pool, tennis courts, and baseball diamonds. You’ll find great views of the city at Cliff Lumsden Park, as well as at Prince of Wales Park, which also has an outdoor skating rink that transforms into a tennis court in the summer.
New Toronto has a diverse mix of residents and real estate. Houses here range from small bungalows and semi-detached homes to beautiful multi-million-dollar houses on the lake. There are also duplexes, triplexes, and high-rise apartment buildings.

Long Branch is a lakeside neighbourhood with a great community feel.
You have the fabulous restaurants and cafés along Lake Shore Boulevard West, highly-rated schools, easy access to a 24-hour TTC streetcar line, and the nearby Long Branch GO Transit station. I recommend visiting Marie Curtis Park with the family, especially in the summer–it has a great splash pad!
Most properties here are detached homes but there’s also a good selection of apartment buildings throughout the area, with a recent boom of stacked townhouses and low-rise condo development as well.
