Growing up, helping the less fortunate and giving back to the area in any way possible was a major part of my life; my family volunteered in the community and sponsored immigrants through the local immigration aid centre.

Here’s how I’m giving back to the community today…

Rotary Peace Park Rejuvenation Project

As a member of the Rotary Peace Park Rejuvenation Committee, I, along with a group of local moms, hosted community parties, wine and cheese nights, and other fundraisers to help fund upgrades for the park and playground at Rotary Peace Park. It was a great success! You can read all about it in the Toronto.com article we were featured in here.

Youth Without Shelter

I also give back to a local shelter, Youth Without Shelter. Youth Without Shelter (YWS) is the singular emergency residence and referral agency in Etobicoke serving and supporting homeless youth ages 16 – 24 for three decades. Life circumstances have not been kind to the youth in these programs — they are victims of abuse, abandonment or have no family at all. YWS not only provides safety and security for youth, but has evolved to provide a full slate of wrap around empowering programs for more than 1000 youth annually including counselling, effective life skills programs, employment guidance, placement in affordable housing and support for continued education. You can donate to or learn more about them here.
